Printing from a Teacher Chromebook

Before you can add a school printer to your chromebook you'll need to get the printer’s IP address. You can get the IP address from your school tech by putting in a Help Desk (https://helpdesk.berkeley.net) ticket.

These instructions are adapted from the official Google Documentation, it may be helpful to refer to the official documentation if you have any trouble.

Add your printer to your Chromebook

  1. At the bottom right, select the time.
  2. Select Settings image.

  3. At the bottom of the settings page, select Advanced.
  4. Under "Printing," select Printers.

  5. Next to "Add printer," select Add printer image.
  6. The “Add a printer manually” screen appears

  7. Name: Enter any name e.g. "King Room 220"
  8. Address: Enter the IP address of the printer provided, I.E. 10.254.1.1
  9. Protocol: For most printers, the supported connection protocol is Line Printer Daemon (LDP). Newer printers may use the IPP instead.
  10. Queue: ipp/print.
  11. Select “Add” when done.
  12. On the “Advanced printer configuration” screen, find the Manufacturer i.e. “Brother” then the Model i.e. “Brother HL-2270DW”
  13. Then select “Add”
  14. You should now see the printer you added in your printer list.
